PORT PLACEMENT/REMOVAL

  • Heparinized Saline 1000 ml

Supplies

  • Angio pack
  • Micro puncture Kit
  • Probe cover
  • Fluoro drape
  • Turtle shell cover
  • Light handle cover
  • #15 Blade
  • Raytex
  • Sutures (see MD preference below)
  • Pickups
  • Exofin
  • Ioban
  • 8Fr Powerport (check with MD)


Bronzo

  • Do not connect catheter on the port
  • Stratafix 3.0 & Stratafix 4.0 (or ask)
  • No dressing, leave it open.
  • Syringe->0->tubing->Tunneler
  • Cap on tubing, port will be at zero
  1. Micropuncture and wire
  2. Pocket
  3. Tunnel north
  4. .035 wire -> peel away
  5. Catheter goes in
  6. Pullback under fluoro and cut
  7. Hookup and close


Dare

  • 3-0 Vicryl
  • Connect catheter to the port
  • No dressing, leave it open


Raj

  • Flow switch
  • 3-0 Vicryl
  • Connect catheter to the port
  • Steri strips for incision site (cut small) for post dressing


Brittany

  • 3.0 Vicryl
  • 4-0 PS-2 Coated Vicryl
  • Connect catheter to the port
  • No dressing, leave it open


Evan

  • Micropuncture kit (Cook)


Samir

  • 3-0 Vicryl
  • ¼” Steri strips for post dressing
  • Cope wire
  • Connect catheter to port
  • Measure wire


If leaving accessed

  • Two IV blue caps
  • Biopatch
  • Slit gauze
  • 4x4 gauze


PORT REMOVAL

  • Angio pack
  • Raytex
  • 3-0 Vicryl
  • 4-0 Vicryl
  • #15 Blade
  • Pickups
  • Exofin
  • Ioban


Bronzo

No dressing likes to leave it open.


Dare

  • Use telfa and medium tegaderm for dressing.
