URETERAL/NEPHROURETERAL STENT PLACEMENT:

  • Confirm with Physician about size of tube needed
  • Confirm side and if native or transplant kidney
  • 100% Contrast (hand injection) unless the Physician states otherwise.
  • Normal Saline 0.9% 1000 ml

Note Warning: Patient is prone, so be aware of marking laterality on fluoro!

  • Fluoro drape
  • Turtle shell cover
  • Probe cover
  • 0-Silk suture
  • K-50 tubing
  • Amplatz guide wire 180cm
  • Glidewire 180cm
  • Bentson guide wire
  • Torque device (if needed)
  • Cope wire
  • Green access needle
  • Accustick set
  • Dawson Mueller catheter
  • Bernstein catheter 65cm
  • Slit Gauze
  • Large tegaderm
  • Leg bag
  • 12cc syringe
  • Ureteral & Nephroureteral stents (cabinet sterile core)

If leaving Nephrostomy tube:

  • Dawson Mueller catheter – confirm with MD
  • Leg bag

If transplant kidney:

  • Don’t need Bentson wire
  • Will use 12cm length stent
