G TUBE & GJ TUBE & J TUBE PLACEMENT/EXCHANGE

  • Confirm with MD size of tube needed
  • If needed, peel away sheaths are 4Fr sizes up from size of G-tube
    • Ex: 18Fr peel away for 14Fr G-tube, 20Fr peel away for 16Fr G-tube
  • Will need sterile water to fill balloon – fill with roughly ¼ contrast and ¾ with water
  • Enema cocktail – Omnipaque 300 150ml with 800ml lukewarm water
  • 100% Contrast (hand injection) unless the Physician states otherwise.
  • Normal Saline 0.9% 1000 ml


  • Angio pack
  • Turtle shell cover
  • 18Fr G-tube introducer kit (comes with peel away, T-fasteners and wire)
  • 14Fr G-tube
  • Bag (sterile core) (Vented G Tube bag – overstock cabinet)
  • Drain Sponge
  • Hypofix tape
  • 12cc syringe (extra)
  • Enfit drainage bag
  • Lidocaine Jelly


If patient doesn’t have NG tube

  • Bernstein catheter 65cm
  • 3-way stopcock
  • 3J guide wire 145cm
  • Blue bulb inflation (nurse cart – bottom drawer) or 60cc syringe

Bronzo

  • Will stand on RT side
  • 2 – 3 T Tacks with contrast syringe


Dare

  • Will stand on LT side
  • 2 – 3 T Tacks with contrast syringe
  • No enema except in select cases

Raj

  • Stand on Lt side
  • Yueh needle
  • Will use wire in the kit (Amplatz guide wire 75cm- standby)
  • 2 T-TACS with K-50 and contrast syringe
  • Stand on LT side

  • 2 x t Tacks w/ K50 tubing & contrast syringe
  • 1G Ancef (RN)
  • 1mg Glucagon (RN)
  • Telescoping peel away sheath
