Draft

The Vascular rescue cart is located in the back equipment room in Interventional Services. It is only for vascular surgical rescue, and not to be used as a source of supplies for surgical procedures.

In the event of the need for open surgical intervention, a "Code Vascular rescue" should be activated. Once a surgeon has been notified, and is on their way, the cart should be brought to the room, and instruments and supplies should be opened.

The instrument tray and contents of the top drawer should be opened after all normal gauze is removed from the sterile field and back table. If at all possible, sharps and current instruments should be counted and sequestered.

If there is time, a surgical count of disposables and sharps should be performed according to surgical standards.
