Heart transplant patients go through a rigorous post-op rejection screening process to ensure the new heart isn't being rejected. This starts with weekly Right Heart procedures and myocardial biopsies.
Access: Right IJ unless otherwise clinically indicated
Open
- Right Heart Pack
- See the Physician Preferences page for procedure details for each physician
- Preferred biopsy device
- Swan or PA catheter
Setup
- Scan Right IJ before prepping to ensure it is patent
- Prep and drape
- Flush and connect Swan to the manifold and zero
- Cut telfa pad to ~2cm x 2cm square for myocardium samples
- Put a small amount of saline in medicine cup for biopsy tome rinsing
