Procedure for measuring the Aortic valve gradient through a single arterial access using the Abbott Pressure wire.

Note Warning: DO NOT have FFR unit turned on or it will confuse the wire transmitter!!!!!

Equipment

  • St. Jude pressure receiver

Open

  • Abbott pressure wire
  • Catheter (MD choice)
  • Intervention kit (You need, at minimum, a co-pilot and introducer needle)
  • Second transducer (ACIST or manifold)

Procedure

  1. St. Jude box should be plugged into P2 or P3
  2. Cross aortic valve
  3. Prep pressure wire so it is flushed and flat on the table
  4. Press middle button on St. Jude receiver box
  5. Turn on wire transmitter
    • Both lights should turn solid green
  6. Introduce wire into LV
  7. Use plus and minus arrows on receiver box to adjust wire pressure reading to match catheter.
    • Note that waveforms will not match, but numbers should.
    • Snap a gradient while both wire and catheter are in LV to confirm calibration if desired.
  8. Pull catheter back across aortic valve
  9. Snap gradient
